
EARLY ACTION
ADMISSION PLAN
All
seniors are invited to participate in our
Early Action Admission Plan. Applications
received by October 1, 2008 will receive
admission decisions by October 15, 2008.
The Early Action Application is a non-binding document. As
an early applicant you will receive preferential
class registration, you will also get a special
limited edition Lyon College sling backpack.

received by October 1, 2008.
All persons who wish to enroll at Lyon must submit a
completed application to and be accepted for admission by the enrollment services office.
Applications are considered on a rolling basis,
which means that applicants can ordinarily expect an
admission decision within one week of the submission of
their completed application.
Applicants
should complete the application process by January 15 to be assured of full consideration for Lyon’s merit-based scholarship programs. The final application deadline for all students from the United States is one week prior to the first day of the academic session for the fall, spring, and summer terms.
[Note: due to expanded Federal requirements for processing international student visas, the application deadline for international students is
four months prior to the first day of the academic session for the fall, spring, and summer terms.] Other special application requirements for international students are listed below.
Admissions Criteria for First Year Students
(Freshmen):
- 22 on the ACT or 1020 on the SAT (math and
critical reading) and a 2.6 GPA
- 21 on the ACT or 980 on the SAT (math and
critical reading) and a 3.1 GPA
- 20 on the ACT or 940 on the SAT (math and
critical reading) and a 3.6 GPA
- All freshmen must also score a 19 on the math section of the ACT (or 480
math SAT)
Students applying for admission as regular students must submit the following application materials. The mailing address is:

A. First-year students (freshmen) 1. An
application for admission. 2. A $25 non-refundable application fee. Make your check payable to Lyon College. 3. Either an official high school transcript from each high school attended or a GED certificate (minimum score of 45). First-year students who have taken and completed any college coursework must also submit an official academic transcript from those institutions. Use our
transcript request form. 4. An official SAT I or ACT score report. Lyon's ACT institutional code is 0112; its SAT code is 6009.
5. If you do not meet admissions criteria (see above),
you must submit an essay and two letters of recommendation from high
school teachers or administrators.
B. Transfer students 1. An
application for admission, including the required essay.
2. A $25 non-refundable application fee. Make your check payable to Lyon College.
3. Official college transcripts from each college attended. Use our transcript request form. Applicants with coursework earned at non-accredited institutions will be asked to verify transferable credits via placement tests.
4. Official high school transcripts (use our
transcript request form) and an official SAT I or ACT score report if the applicant graduated from high school within five years of applying to Lyon. Lyon's ACT institutional code is 0112; its SAT code is 6009.

Evidence of good academic and social standing at the last institution attended.
6. An essay, and two letters of recommendation from
professors are required for students with less than a
2.75 transferable college GPA.
C. International students
1. An application for admission, including the required essay.
2. A $50 non-refundable application fee.
3. Official transcripts from all secondary and post-secondary institutions. Use our
transcript request form. Students who have attended secondary school outside of the United States must submit a certified evaluation, in English, of their transcripts from World Education Services, Inc.
4. An official SAT I, ACT, or (if appropriate) TOEFL score report. Applicants who take the TOEFL must achieve a minimum score of 550 (paper) or 213 (computer). Lyon's ACT institutional code is 0112; its SAT code is 6009.
5. An applicant must demonstrate that s/he has the financial resources to cover costs for an academic year (less any financial aid award that s/he receives) before final admission is granted.
Enrolling at Lyon
Applicants who are accepted for admission as regular students must submit a deposit to reserve their place in the entering class prior to matriculating at Lyon. Regular full-time students
must submit a
$200 enrollment deposit. Students are encouraged to submit the required deposit
once they have decided to attend Lyon. Students should not
send deposits to more than one school. Offers of admission may be held open until May 1, the Candidate’s Common Reply Date as agreed upon by the National Association of College Admission Counseling. The enrollment deposit is non-refundable after May 1.
